Oscar Craig has claimed the FirstPoint USA Boy’s Strokeplay event at Abu Dhabi Golf Club's National Course.

A wire-to-wire win for Oscar who led through each round of the 54-hole tournament and completed the victory with rounds of 75, 74 & 76.

With 36-holes being played today (Tuesday) the highlight of Oscar's day would've been his finishing holes in round two. Birdies on the par three 16th and famous par five 18th to give him a slight bit of breathing space heading into the third round. A four over par 76 in the final round for Oscar gave him the title.

Four-shot victory

A four-shot victory for Oscar from fellow Brit Dominic Morton . Dominic was tied with Oscar after 18 holes but a second round 77, gave Oscar the three-shot breathing space he needed. The gap between the pair was down to just one shot after Dominic eagled the par four third hole, but dropped shots around the turn derailed Dominic.

The win therefore makes it trophy number three won around the National Course in the Fleetwood household, after Tommy's two Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship victories on the DP World Tour!

Shlok Dabir , Mo Craig (Oscar's Brother) and Alexander Rushika  were in a tie for third.

In the Boys Net Division Matias Camberos (HCP 9) who plays out of Dubai Hills Golf Club took the division by just one shot after a tournament total of six under par.

Mo Craig (HCP 7) was just one shot back on five under par and took second spot on countback from Dabir (HCP 7). A second round of net 65 for Dabir was the low net round of the week!

Girls Strokeplay champion is Thailand's Zurich Kanokpornvasin  by three shots from Turkey's Deniz Sapmaz in second and the UAE's Hannah Cheryl Alan in third.

In the Girls Net Division, South Korean Daul Kim (HCP 8) had a healthy win from Kanokpornvasin (HCP +3) in second and the UAE's Faye Mohammed (HCP 5) in third.

A hugely successful week for the FirstPoint USA Golf Scholarship Showcase team who's goal was to asses players who have ambitions to play collegiate golf in the USA, while at the same time outlining all the requirements for candidates both academically and from a golfing perspective.

We may very well see some of our UAE residents heading stateside in the future, following the footsteps of the likes of Tiger Woods , Rose Zhang (both Stanford University) and Jon Rahm (Arizona State University) to international stardom. We wish them luck!
