Emirati victim of theft in Italy thanks Dubai Police for their follow-up
Dubai: A UAE citizen holidaying in Italy where he fell victim to a theft has expressed his gratitude to Dubai Police who followed up on his case and offered to extend any help he may need.
Ahmad Al Dawla told Gulf New s that he, his wife and two children had first visited Germany and travelled to Italy in a rented a car.
They parked it and left. When he returned, he found the car window smashed and a bag containing his children’s belongings, which had been in the back seat, was missing. Italian police were on the scene, waiting for him.
“The police told me the thief had been caught. The car was parked in a public place, so the theft was spotted quickly. I had kept my second phone in the car and my wallet, but they [the suspects] hadn’t seen it,” Al Dawla said.
The police asked him to join them to the police station to complete the rest of the procedures and paperwork. The Italian police are well behaved and cooperative, he said. Police told him such thefts have increased recently, with a gang specialised in stealing cars with non-Italian license plates.

Al Dawla had posted a video of his experience to warn others of such matters. Dubai Police saw the video and he received a call and a WhatsApp message from the International Cooperation section at Dubai Police.
The Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, had instructed his staff to contact Al Dawla and see if he needed anything.
They contacted him to make sure he and his family were alright and offered to extend any help they may need. They also informed him that they had spoke with the Italian police, who briefed them about the incident and the condition of the family.
Al Dawla said: “Thanks to Dubai Police and our UAE government which follows up on our needs and welfare both inside and outside the country.”
He added: “A person envies himself for this blessing. If something happens to you outside the country, they follow the situation. Praise be to God for the blessing of our government to provide us security and safety inside and outside the country.”
